Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Systems Administrator to maintain, upgrade, and manage our software, hardware, and networks. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring our IT infrastructure runs smoothly, securely, and efficiently.
The ideal candidate has strong troubleshooting skills, a solid understanding of network and system security, and a passion for optimizing system performance to support our growing organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Management: Maintain, configure, and monitor physical/virtual servers, operating systems (Windows/Linux), and cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure).
- User Support & Administration: Manage user accounts, permissions, access rights, and group policies (Active Directory / Entra ID / Okta).
- Network & Security: Oversee local network components (routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs), monitor system integrity, and enforce security protocols to safeguard against vulnerabilities.
- Backup & Disaster Recovery: Implement and regularly test data backup, recovery, and continuity procedures.
- Maintenance & Upgrades: Perform regular system updates, security patches, performance tuning, and hardware/software upgrades.
- Incident Response: Troubleshoot complex system, network, or hardware issues and resolve escalated IT support tickets promptly.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, network diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Vendor Management: Coordinate with IT vendors, service providers, and contractors for software, hardware, and service procurement.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
- 3+ years of professional experience in a Systems Administrator or similar IT infrastructure role.
Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency with Windows Server and/or Linux/Unix administration.
- Active Directory / Microsoft Entra ID management, Group Policy, and Office 365 / Google Workspace administration.
- Virtualization experience (VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM).
- Solid understanding of core networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, Firewalls).
- Experience with Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
- Basic scripting/automation skills (PowerShell, Bash, or Python).
Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking abilities.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical staff.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and handle high-pressure outage situations.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+/Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, or CCNA).
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) or Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of ITIL best practices.
