Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accountant to join our finance team in Destin, FL. In this role, you will manage day-to-day accounting functions, prepare monthly financial statements, oversee general ledger reconciliations, and ensure full compliance with accounting principles and regulations. You will play a crucial role in maintaining financial integrity and supporting strategic business planning.
Key Responsibilities
- General Ledger Management: Prepare, review, and record journal entries, ensuring accurate allocation of revenue and operational expenses.
- Financial Reporting: Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, including the preparation of balance sheets and income statements.
- Reconciliations: Perform bank, credit card, and general ledger account reconciliations to ensure financial records are accurate and up to date.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Oversee vendor invoicing, customer billing, collections, and expense reimbursements.
- Audit & Compliance Support: Maintain internal financial controls and assist external auditors by providing required documentation and schedules.
- Tax Preparation Support: Help prepare state, federal, and local tax filings, maintaining compliance with applicable tax laws.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3+ years of professional experience in accounting or general ledger management.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with modern ERP and accounting software (QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Xero, or Sage).
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas).
- Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience managing payroll processing systems and recurring SaaS revenue billing models is a plus.
Soft Skills
- High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail.
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and organizational skills to interact effectively with team members and external stakeholders.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification or CPA candidate status.
- Experience working within the software, technology, or staffing integration sector.
